Why I love my job

My boss just PMed me:
[14:46:22] Matt says: I have a not-for-sale promo CD of a short album about love from 1996. Would you like it?
Are you fucking kidding me?

As if we needed any more proof that genius is a fickle mistress, elusive and intermitent, I present Guns ‘N Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine:
She’s got eyes of the bluest skies / As if they thought of rain.
Brilliant. That’s a fantastic lyric. There are people who would die happy if they wrote a lyric half that good. What have you got next for us, Axl?
I hate to look into those eyes / And see an ounce of pain.
Ow. Sorry. You were doing so well, too. Next!
Not many people have heard Axl Rose’s original lyrics for this verse, which were cut at the request of Geffen Records (and the rest of the band):
She’s got eyes of the bluest skies / As if they thought of rain / I hate to look into those eyes / And see an ounce of pain / Metric weighing vexes her / And makes her head go “ouch” / I want to make the sex with her / Upon our tour bus couch. / Ooh, yeah, baby / Lick my love pump, etc.
“Must make it rhyme! Else it’s not poetry!“

I haven’t blogged about machinima for a while. Sorry about that. It’s because I’m mainly blogging my machinima stuff over at www.bloodspell.com, or www.machinimafordummies.com. It’s also because I’m crazy busy at the moment, so I haven’t had the time to watch much machinima recently.
Anyway, I’ve just seen a superb machinima music video. Now, you know how I feel about machinima music videos in general. I think they’re a curse on humankind which should be stopped at all costs. Every so often, though, I come across a music video that’s actually good. This is one. Great geek song, very funny video. Frank Delario and the rest of the ILL Clan team have achieved a minor miracle here – they’ve made The Movies look good. There’s some pretty clever stuff going on here – much of the video uses the dull and derivative Movies default scenes, but the addition of a bipedal chimp (just watch the damn movie) changes it all around.
I love this movie. It’s made it onto my list of “Machinima Movies that I show anybody who asks me what machinima is”. It’s also on my list of “things to email to all my geeky friends”.
